Due to lack of funds, it took 40 years before the monument was completed and was finally built in 1885. The monument measures 555.5 feet tall and is located at the heart of the National Mall. Admission is free of charge but it is important to plan ahead because a ticket is required. Once you get inside and get to the top, you will see an incredible view of the city.

The construction commenced in 1914 and was finally completed in 1922, opening its doors to millions of visitors each year. Admission is free and is open to the public daily, 24 hours a day.
